Privacy Policy

PlayPal ("we", "us") is a WhatsApp assistant that helps people find players at their level and places to play. This policy explains what personal data we process, why, and your rights. It applies to the PlayPal WhatsApp service and to get-playpal.com.

Who is responsible

What we collect

  • Account data: your WhatsApp phone number, the name you give us, your WhatsApp profile name and your preferred language.
  • Sports profile: the sports you play, your self-declared level, your rating calculated from match votes, and your match history.
  • Location: the home location pin you send us, your travel radius, and any temporary travel location. We use it to find matches and venues near you. We never track your location in the background.
  • Availability: the times you tell us you're usually free.
  • Messages: the messages and button taps you send to PlayPal, and the messages we send you.
  • Match data: matches you create or join, invitations, and your votes after a match (who played strongest and weakest).
  • Invitations: who invited you, and who joined using your invite code.
  • Usage of venue links: when you tap a club's phone, WhatsApp or booking link in our lists.

Why we use it (and our legal basis)

  • To provide the service (contract): creating your profile, matching you with players and venues, sending invitations, reminders and match updates, and calculating levels from votes.
  • To share your number with match organizers (consent): only when you join a match, only with that match's organizer, and only until the match ends. You can withdraw this consent in your Profile at any time. You won't be able to join matches without it.
  • To keep PlayPal safe and fair (legitimate interest): preventing abuse, fake levels and spam.
  • To improve PlayPal (legitimate interest): aggregated statistics such as how quickly matches fill.

We don't sell your data and we don't use it for third-party advertising.

Who we share it with

  • Other players: players invited to or taking part in your matches see your name and level. Your phone number is shared only as described above.
  • Service providers who process data on our behalf: Meta Platforms (WhatsApp Business messaging), Anthropic (AI understanding of the text you write to us), Google (venue information from Google Maps Platform), Railway (application hosting) and Supabase (database hosting).
  • Authorities, when required by law.

Some providers process data outside the European Economic Area, for example in the United States. In those cases, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

How long we keep it

We keep your profile while your account is active. If you ask us to delete your account, we delete your profile, location, availability and messages within 30 days. Match records may be kept in anonymised form for statistics. Message logs are kept for up to 12 months.

Your rights

You can ask to access, correct, delete or export your data, object to or restrict processing, and withdraw consent at any time. Write to privacy@get-playpal.com or message PlayPal on WhatsApp. If you are in the EU, you can also complain to your data protection authority (in Portugal, the CNPD). In Paraguay, you can exercise your rights under the applicable personal data laws.

Age

PlayPal is for people aged 16 and over.

Changes

We'll update this page if this policy changes, and tell you on WhatsApp about important changes.
